Books I've read so far this year (32!) and my top 5 recommendations for you

Books I've read this year so far:

I recently saw an influencer post how many books she's read so far this year, which prompted me to take a look at my own pile. I read a lot of library and Kindle books, so its easy to go back to those platforms to see what I've read. I'll be honest, I was surprised at first by the number, but then, I read every night and have three or more books on the go at once, so I guess they do add up!

I usually read in the genre I write in, but this year I decided to branch out. I found lists of book recommendations by people like Reese Witherspoon, Jenna Bush, and Oprah, as well as other recommendations that came across my feed. You'll see a lot of award winning books in the list as a result.

For my fellow cozy mystery books readers, I can recommend all those in that genre that you see in these images, as well as the Agatha Christie books.

I enjoyed each book to varying levels. Some were quite literary, others dark, and a few with salty language, so if that's something of concern for you, head's up. There are two memoirs on the list as well. You'll also see two from David Rosenfelt. This is a long running series which I read like comfort food. Even though its a murder/courtroom drama, the main character has a lot of charm and a good dose of humor. Plus there are dogs.

Here's my top 5 I think you'll enjoy:

  1. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry   by Gabrielle Zeven (I also enjoyed the movie.)
  2. By the same author, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
  3. Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt (I enjoyed this movie too. Sally Fields is terrific in it.)
  4. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  5. Dear Edward  by Ann Napolitano (not as keen on the movie)

*Just a reminder that this is not a strictly cozy reading list. I can't remember everything about every book I've read, so do your own research if you find language or some difficult life situations not to your liking.

How about you? What books would you recommend? Share your book list so far this year.
