I'm working on the last book of the Ginger Gold 1920s Mystery series (bringing all the main secondary characters that have appeared over the course of 31 books in one place ~ super fun!)
The idea that this is the end of the Roaring Twenties road for Ginger is a bittersweet. I need time to digest just how I'm feeling about that, and will blog more about that issue in the near future.
At the same time, I'm working on the companion book for my upcoming Kickstarter campaign, and that has made me realise that I've forgotten a lot about the road Ginger has travelled. She and many of the characters have changed by the end of the series, from who they were at the beginning. This became even more clear to me as I started re-reading the books starting with Murder at the SS Rosa.
Yes, I'm reading my own books and surprised by them! I love the strong ladies there who are so different from each other, starting with Ginger and Haley, then adding Felicia and Ambrosia. I'd forgotten how emotional Ginger and Basil's "push-pull" romance was, especially in the book I'm currently reading now, Murder at Kensington Gardens. Poor Basil. Poor Ginger!
In many ways, it's like I'm discovering the series for the first time, while at the same time, I remember when...

Although I’ll miss Ginger and Basil, I think you made the right decision to end the series. Too many authors continue to go on and on with a series and it becomes repetitive. Your books are great and I will look forward to a new series by you. I do want to go back and reread the first book and relive how they met on the SS Rosa.
I am just so sad to know this series is coming to an end. I look forward to each audiobook release, often trolling your website for the latest audio release. I do hope you will complete the series with audio releases. Better yet, change your mind about ending it.

In response to Terri’s question about book 3, this is a result of writing one book long before the other! I did quietly make changes to book 3 to reflect Ginger’s new reality when I reread it.

I just finished murder at lake como and wanted to remind myself of all the details of Ginger’s life.I am rereading again! I just reread Gingers spy days and now am on the third book. I love the history in all the books. And of course I love the Ginger, Daniel, Basil, Hayley, Felecia and Boss! And of course Scout. I did want to ask about something in book 3, when Hayley and ginger are on the train going to Bray Manor to help Felecia with the ghost, Ginger thinks about hard it will be to go there because the last time she was there was with Daniel….however, she was there during the war and helped Felecia with the land girls and she brought materials for the ladies sewing circle and even helped them….. Also, I want to thank you for this series and for Hayley’s series and Rosa’s! You are amazing!
I also feel I could go back and reread the Ginger Gold books. I am sure I have forgotten details in the hurry to move through the story! Plus I feel I may have missed one or two books. I enjoy how the new family members become part of the series and widen the scope as Rosa in USA and Haley’s very different life.
As Maisie Dobbs also draws to a close, I might go back to the start of Jacqueline Winspear’s series.
